Why could an aging boiler need a power-flush

Why could an aging boiler need a power-flush

With each passing year internal contamination accumulates within your heating boiler and central heating system. The contaminants will need to be flushed out to restore your gas boiler and central heating system to normal operation.

Many commercial plumbers offer a power-flush service which will help to remove this deposits build up.

Overtime this problem can impact most forms of heating system, the passage of time rather than gas fired boiler and central heating system design is the main influence. You do not want to replace and update your heating boiler with the latest model without commissioning a power-flush first. Whilst your new gas fired boiler is in pristine condition it will soon have contaminants and debris circulating within it as sludge and debris are agitated as the new components are fitted.

You can purchase corrosion inhibitor in the shops which can be added to the central heating system and help to slow any sludge buildup.

The following are some of the problems that could be avoided with a powerflush as it removes the deposits from your central heating system : -

* radiator cold patches
* gas boiler contamination
* circulation problems with your central heating water pump
* pipe blockages
* internal corrosion
* internal blockages

As a consequence the benefits of the power-flush could be :-

* increased pump life as your water pump handles clear water instead of sludge
* improving heating radiator efficiency as colder patches are removed
* improved system efficiency so reducing fuel costs in future years.
* reduced energy consumption with improved heat exchanger performance
* improved central heating radiator heat transmission and extended lifetime
* clearing your heating system of contaminated water which could lead to central heating system corrosion

The power-flush is conducted by use of a powerflush machine. The contaminants are extracted from the gas fired boiler and central heating system water as it is rooted through the simple machine. New liquid is also forced into your gas fired boiler and central heating system. Once the task is completed the heating engineer should refill your system adding a corrosion inhibiter to prolong its operating life.

A power-flush be finished by a trained operator to ensure that it is finished correctly and does not create a mess.
