How many variant configurations of central heating boiler are there

There are many different types of gas Gas Central Heating Systems available to you. A central heating boiler, radiator and pipework are common components in many of these Central Heating Systems, they are simple in plumbing terms.

In most parts of the United Kingdom air conditioning is hardly needed because of the average temperatures of those regions. In fact, a decent central heating system is a necessity in these regions, and due to this, a majority of new houses have a Gas Central Heating system.

Central Heating is essential, particularly whens winter is heading our way. While blizzards rage on outside, you can be safe and warm on the inside. This security in winter is possible only if your Central Heating System is foolproof, well maintained and functioning efficiently. Additionally, your central heating system should also be safe, user-friendly and durable.

Two kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.

Pumped or vented Central Heating systems are most popularly used. A pumped/vented Central Heating System includes components known as a feed and expansion tank to allow for the expansion of water as it is heated in the heating radiators. Your radiators are heated and your water is stored in a hot water tank. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. A pumped/vented heating system requires that the tank be installed at the highest level within the house – such as an attic or attic space, certainly on the top floor. It serves a dual purpose by heating the house and also supplying heated water.

A pumped/vented Central Heating System is what most homes probably have, especially those built many years earlier.

A slightly newer boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred heating system in newer properties. This system doesn’t have water tanks as it’s a closed heating system, this will save you space and reduce maintenance costs as there are fewer components. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.

- No risk of freezing pipes in the attic.

- As opposed to pumped/vented systems there is no need for maintenance work on tanks or pipes.

- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.

- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of air locks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.

- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.

The sealed Gas Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. It feeds directly from the main water supply.

Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.

As compared to other heating systems, Gas Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. And they provide you with much more control and choice when it comes to your heating compared to any other systems.
