How long should a circuit board in a condensing boiler last?
Had the boiler installed just over 2 years ago – am thinking that’s a bit soon!!!

Assuming that it’s issolated from any moisture the boiler might generate and that it’s not been fried by an electrical spike, then it should last as long as any other circuit board in any other product.
Difficult to put and exact time to but I know the circuit board in my boiler has lasted over 10 years.

The ciruit board, under normal use, should last as long as the boiler, given that the average design life of this type of product is now only about ten years-so,about ten years. The components on the circuit board may not last that long though.

They probably have a 10 year design life.
Its a law of averages, yours lasted 2 years, but your TV, fridge or dishwasher probably lasted longer than mine.
We only notice what fails, we never notice what works right.

Check your owners manual for warranty coverage.
Most newer boilers will have a 5 year warranty on the circuit board.
At least 10 years of service should be expected but occasionally you can have a defect or some external cause of the problem.
Maybe it had water leaking on it.

The lifetime of the boiler in an ideal world, but sometimes they can go faulty sooner. Its a case of bad luck I’m afraid.Make sure the engineer has checked the fuse on the board, and check your guarantee.

There is no real answer to your question, i’ve probably replaced more than 4000 pcb’s in boilers some lasted a matter of days some were 12 years old. Most boiler manufacturers don’t make a great deal of money on the boiler (the plumber does) they make their money on spare parts. Some manufacturers do offer a long guarantee on pcb’s might be worth your while to write to them, don’t bother to phone as you generally get a better responce by mail.Just say in your letter that your really happy with the boiler but is it normal for the pcb to fail after such a short time.
