Get a new central heating system to keep cosy this winter

Central heating is the best way to keep your house warm during winters. Heating your home will make it a relaxing and cosy place to be, so therefore you need a reliable and economical central heating system.

In general, two types of central heating systems exist, one that’s pumped and the other with a vented system; but a heating boiler, heating radiator and pipework make up the constituents of most heaters.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (central heating radiators). Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water.

In contrast, Sealed systems eliminate this primary water tank section. It’s basically closed, so there is really no need for any water tanks and the space they require. The main assets of this system is that issues such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, especially for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.

Do I really need a gas central heating system to heat my home?.

The primary benefit of gas central heating is that the entire home or office is warmed up rapidly, and that too, without adversely affecting the air around you. In earlier times, gas, electrical or storage heaters were utilised. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.

Such problems never occur with gas central heating but they require regular maintenance to ensure their peak operation. Most people turn off their central heating systems during summertimes and switch them on only during wintertimes, this should be totally avoided as the system could suddenly develop a problem as winter appears. Instead, you should start using the gas central heating system during the autumn season so that if any problem comes to the fore, you can call the plumber and get it rectified before the wintertime.

You should also keep in mind that most houses central heating systems can let air or dirt into it, therefore they need periodic draining. The best way to do this is to place a bucket underneath the drain valve and slowly open it to release the water, but just make sure that no more air or dirt is making its way in.
