Enhance your gas central heating with a new boiler

Icy winds of wintertime curl through the trees and you huddle at your window, thinking of heating for your home – this season perhaps you should get yourself gas central heating. If you have an efficient and safe central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug home.

Most heating systems compromise of a central heating boiler; radiator and pipework, there are basically two different sorts of gas central heating systems, one being a pumped system and the other being a vented system.

The most common out of these is probably the pumped system, these consist of a feed and expansion tank, the hot water tank works as the centre storage, and then heats the central heating radiators via the pipes. The expansion tank does allow for any water expansion that may occur.

The vented central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. It works well in colder countries like Norther Europe because the pipes are less likely to freeze up in this system, in addition to that there are less chances of leaking and there are no airlocks too.

So Why Do I need a central heating System?.

The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your environment. Gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters were more commonly used in the past. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.

With central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your gas central heating system will require regular maintenance. A lot of households switch them off during the warm summer months and as soon as a cold snap hits, they then switch them on, this should not be done. Instead, you should start using the central heating system during the autumn season so that if any problem comes to the fore, you can call the heating engineer and get it rectified before the winter.

It is also important to remember that most household gas central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. To flush the system, open the valve carefully and drain the collected water into a bucket, while ensuring that no further water gets into the heating system.
