Do not postpone, get gas central heating this winter
We should all prepare for the winter months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. There’s nothing cosier than a warm room while a blizzard rages outside, and this warmth is best provided by a sturdy and efficient gas central heating system.
In general, two types of central heating systems exist, one that’s pumped and the other with a vented system; but a central heating boiler, central heating radiator and pipework make up the constituents of most heaters.
Pumped systems are more frequent, they have a feed and an expansion tank, another hot water tank is the core of the system, it stores hot water as it heats up and then uses the pipes to transfer heat to the heating radiators. Due to heat, the water in the tank expands and fills it up.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the heating radiator. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. A sealed central heating system gets rid of the risk of water leakage, airlock formation and pipe freeze (a common problem in the harsh winters of countries like Russia).
Tell me why I should get central heating?.
The major advantage of gas central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your surroundings. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.
These air quality issues were eliminated by central heating; but such a desirable environment can be ensured only by periodic servicing of the heating system to keep it running efficiently and safely. Spring and summer often sees these systems shut down and completely ignored, only to be abruptly switched on when a chilly wind blows in. Instead, as the weather begins to change, you should use it by degrees in order to spot any problems and give you time to call an heating plumber before wintertime.
Airborne dust and other contaminants can also seep into the gas central heating system, necessitating periodic drainage and cleaning. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
