Do not be the odd fish and get gas boiler cover policies
These days anything from laptops to pets can be covered with insurance policies. There are those insurance policies that are obviously more important than others and some are required by law such as car insurance. The bank will need the borrower to take out buildings insurance in a case when there is the need for a mortgage to buy a property. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.
Carrying somewhat of a lower degree of importance is central heating system insurance, such as those products from npower Hometeam, Eon and British Gas. These policies are not being used as widely as they should be, but householders often feel that the are more important things with higher repair costs to cover than the central heating system, these opinions change when there is an unexpected heating problem with a high repair cost. On top of the cost, you may have to wait some time to have a professional come to your house to fix any problems and living without hot water or heating can be a nightmare. But the most serious implication is the possibility of a faulty central heating system, which could be leaking potentially fatal carbon monoxide.
A wide choice of plans exist in the market for both boiler servicing and central heating repair. The simplest plans are those that include just the minimum requirements with yearly servicing and safety inspections. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their heating boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. This additional money will be a worthwhile payment especially if the boiler is approaching its end of life. When upgrading to a comprehensive plan, homeowners can choose to also insure the pipework and radiators or heating controls along with the gas boiler.
Watch out for small print before you choose a new insurance policy as there may be limitations or exemptions written into the plan. Some providers will limit the number of call outs per year or stipulate a maximum cost of inclusive repairs for a given period. Do not buy a policy just because it is cheap, the insurance cover should be right for your needs.
